Amazon Wildness!

OMG, where to start? Well, first of all we have been completely cut off from civilization for the past three days. It was wonderfully liberating, sometimes magnificent, sometimes horrifying, but overall an amazing experience. So let's start at the beginning. We arrived in the Amazon, and stayed at a place called The Treehouse Resort. Aptly named, because our rooms were small tent-like rooms that were up in trees. Our particular room was about 70 feet up in the air. When we got there we took a small boat out to one of the many tributaries of the Amazon and immediately saw many dolphins swimming.
So that was the exciting part of the first day, except that night when we went to bed in our Treehouse there was a tarantula. It was about the size of Mom's hand. We had already shooed out the largest beetle in the history (sorry, no pics) of the world, and then we turn off the lights and there's a tarantula on the screen inside the room. Needless to say mom was terrified and I simply walked over and picked it up and threw it out. The rest of our trip I was constantly looking over my shoulder to see if there were any other assorted creatures. The next day was 105 degrees out, literally, and we went on another boat ride and had 2 cuddly little monkeys crawl into our boat.
Later that afternoon we caught a sloth.
It was absolutely the cutest thing ever, and mom fell in love with him. Aspen is soon going to have a friend. We then went fishing, and although mom and I didn't catch anything our friends caught many piranhas.
They actually don't taste that bad. The chef cooked three of them up for us and Jamie and I had piranhas for dinner. As we were coming back from the Sloth Adventure we saw about 50 monkeys jumping across the river.
kksorry if this doesn't load, we'll show you when we see you) later we went out and saw the world's only pink dolphins. They don't have the kind of dorsal fin that the regular dolphins have, but they do have pink bellies. We then returned to Lima for our flight to Cusco and Machu Picchu hiking. What's that you say? You missed your flight again? My how did you possibly guess that? So here I sit in the Sheraton in Lima Peru , having missed two flights in six days. That, coupled with the fact that three of the six travelers have had vicious stomach problems (mom and I not included), has already made this a wonderfully interesting trip.
